It supersedes the earlier F2925 dated 2011 and covers domestic and import cars, light trucks, and SUVs with Moog’s application-style spring listings—not a chassis ball-joint book, and not the vintage dimension sheets in Rowland.

What this book is (and is not)
It is: Moog’s Master Catalog — Coil Springs, form F2925 (June 2019). Application tables by make/model with year ranges, engine notes, and Moog coil SKUs for front and rear. Typical columns on a rear sheet are Regular, Heavy Duty, and Variable. Older front sheets often split Without A/C vs With A/C because compressor/condenser mass changes the OE front rate choice. It is not: the Moog Chassis Master (ball joints, arms, tie rods, hubs)—those live in our 2007–2018, 1991–2006, and 1990 and older guides. It is also not the 1957 Rowland Coil Springs book. Rowland is the vintage free-length / wire / ID-OD reference for rate math; F2925 is the modern buy-today Moog application catalog.
How to read a Moog coil application row
Sheets are organized by manufacturer, then model, then FRONT COIL SPRINGS / REAR COIL SPRINGS. Left to right on a typical line:
- Year range — printed newest-first (e.g. 2011–2007). If your year sits in the range, the SKU applies unless a trim note says otherwise.
- Engine — cylinder count or displacement (4 Cyl, V6, 350(5.7L), etc.). Do not skip this on trucks and performance trims.
- Description / notes — body style, Sport Suspension, wheel size, transaxle, market (USA vs Mexico/Japan built), 4×4, wagon vs sedan, and similar OE splitters.
- SKU columns — the Moog part number(s) for that row. Rear rows usually offer Regular / Heavy Duty / Variable. Front rows on many older cars use Without A/C / With A/C instead of (or alongside) rate-style columns.
SKU patterns you will see: straight numeric Moog coils (e.g. 81753, 81432, 5543) and CC-prefixed numbers (e.g. CC229, CC670, CC81035). In this book, CC SKUs land almost exclusively in the Variable column—treat them as Moog’s variable-rate / progressive listings for that application, not as a different brand.
Regular vs Heavy Duty vs Variable (and A/C fronts)
- Regular — the OE-replacement path for a stock ride when Moog lists one. Start here if the truck is not loaded and you are not trying to fix chronic sag with a stiffer spring.
- Heavy Duty — Moog’s HD listing for that same application when the book shows one. Useful for towing, payload, or worn OE springs that have set—still verify ride height after install; HD is not a licensed lift kit.
- Variable — variable-rate / progressive coils (often the CC series). Soft initial rate for ride, steeper rate as the spring compresses. Do not mix a variable rear with assumptions from a constant-rate custom wind without measuring.
- Without A/C / With A/C (fronts) — common on older Moog front sheets. A/C cars carried more nose weight; Moog split the OE spring choice. If the car has A/C, prefer the With A/C column when both are listed.
Honest note on rates / load: F2925 as published here is an application catalog. The sheets we use list part numbers by vehicle—not a full rate / load / install-height / free-height grid on every page. Moog historically published a separate coil-spring specifications reference for rate and load numbers. If you need napkin rate math from free length, wire, and ID/OD on 1940s–1950s iron, use Rowland. If you need a modern Moog SKU for a 1990s–2010s OE replacement, stay in F2925.
How to use the book without fooling yourself
- Identify the car first — year, make, model, engine, drivetrain, and front vs rear. Sport vs non-Sport and wheel-size notes matter.
- Match the column to the job — Regular for stock, Heavy Duty for load/tow, Variable when that is what OE (or your goal) used. Do not order “the HD one” just because the number is bigger.
- Measure what you removed — free length and whether the old spring has set. A collapsed Regular is not automatically a reason to jump two rate classes without checking perch condition and shocks.
- Springs are not shocks — damping still comes from Gabriel / KYB. Pair a new coil with shocks that are not dead.
- Chassis still matters — ball joints, bushings, and tie rods live in the Moog Chassis Master guides and Mechanics’ Files year pages, not in F2925.
