If you still wrench squarebody Chevys, Twin I-beam F-150s, D150 Rams, or early Civics, the Moog Chassis Master Catalog for 1990 and older U.S. applications is the book that still earns a spot on the bench. Same Federal-Mogul Moog Chassis Master family as the later volumes—just the older iron: greaseable sockets, Problem Solver notes, figure callouts, and interchange chatter shops actually use.
This page is a guide to that source book—what’s in it, how to read a row, what we already turned into HTML year pages, and the gotchas we hit while building them. It is not another year/make/model dump. For browse-by-vehicle, use Mechanics’ Files. For the library of parts books, stay here under Catalogs.

What’s inside the 1990-and-older Chassis Master
This is Moog’s chassis bible for pre-1991 street machines that refuse to die: squarebody C10/K10 into early GMT400, 6th–8th-gen F-150, D150 / Power Ram W150, and Civic from 2nd-gen through early 4th-gen. Typical coverage on each vehicle sheet:
- Ball joints — load-carrying and follower, press-in and bolt-on, often with Problem Solver upgrades over tired OE designs
- Control arms & bushings — complete CK / RK arms where Moog offers them, plus bushing-only sets for press work
- Tie rods & steering — ES outers, EV inners, adjusting sleeves, idler and Pitman arms on box-steering trucks
- Hubs / bearings — early hub assemblies and classic tapered front-wheel bearing applications
- Sway-bar links & specialty — K-series links and related chassis hardware
Year stacks still print newest-first inside this older book. Leftover trims and drivetrains share a sheet with a qualifier instead of getting their own chapter—exactly why our HTML pages repeat shared SKUs across a generation and split only when Moog splits (C10 vs GMT400, F100 leftovers vs F-150, D150 vs later Ram nameplate).
How to read a Moog row
Same left-to-right grammar as the newer Chassis Masters:
- Year range — newest-first. Your year inside the stack means the SKU applies unless a note excludes it.
- Position / application note — Left/Right, upper/lower, 4×4 only, 2WD coil, engine or trim callouts
- Part number — K / RK / CK / ES / EV / numeric hubs
- Qty & figure — pieces per vehicle and the diagram callout (F###)
When CK and RK both appear for one corner, treat them as grade choices on the same geometry. For a full walkthrough of prefixes and leftover logic on newer iron, see the 2007–2018 guide and the 1991–2006 guide.
What we already built from THIS book
We’ve turned the thick application sheets into plain-English year pages. Thin first-gen Civic coverage (1973–1979) was skipped on purpose—not enough useful rows to justify a full year grid. Real pages that live today:
Year-page patterns (HTML from the book)
- Honda Civic 1980–1990 — pattern
/{year}-honda-civic-suspension-parts/(example: 1985). 2nd-gen through early 4th-gen. 1973–79 Civic sheets were too thin; we did not publish empty year pages. - Chevy C10 / K10 / early C1500–K1500 1973–1990 — e.g. 1979 and 1989. Squarebody through early GMT400 under our Silverado 1500 URL pattern.
- Ford F-150 1975–1990 — e.g. 1982 F-150 and 1988 F-150. 6th through early 8th-gen 1/2-ton pickups only.
- Ram / D150 / Power Ram W150 1977–1990 — e.g. 1980 and 1987. Pre-nameplate D150/W150 and early 1st-gen Ram 1500 family.

Gotchas from real catalog work
- Squarebody vs GMT400. 1973–1987 C10/K10 (squarebody) and 1988–1990 early GMT400 C1500/K1500 are different front ends even though Moog keeps them in the same truck family. A “C10 ball joint kit” listing on the internet is not automatically an ’89 K1500 kit.
- D150 vs Ram nameplate. Before the Ram badge stuck, Moog prints D150 / Power Ram W150. Our year pages use the Ram 1500 URL pattern for continuity with later trucks—but the book row may still say D150/W150. Not 2500, not vans, not Ramcharger, and not a 2019+ DT.
- F-100 / Econoline / Club Wagon leftovers. Ford 1/2-ton chapters sit next to F-100, van, and wagon lines. We keep year pages on F-150 pickup only. Figure codes still matter—match F### before you order a left/right arm.
- Civic 1973–79 skipped. First-gen sheets in this book are too thin to support honest year pages. If you have a ’73–’79 Civic, use the PDF archive and comment on a nearby year page rather than trusting an empty grid.
- Suburban / Express / van bleed. Same rule as the newer books: cab shape on the lot does not mean the pickup Moog row applies.
