Moog Chassis Master Catalog (1991–2006)

If you wrench for a living—or you still chase greaseable sockets on GMT400 and 10th-gen F-150 iron—the Moog Chassis Master Catalog covering roughly 1991–2006 U.S. applications is the middle book in the Chassis Master set we keep open. Same Federal-Mogul Moog layout as the later 2007–2018 volume: passenger cars, light trucks, and SUVs with Problem Solver callouts, interchange notes, and the figure codes shops actually use.

This page is a guide to that source book—what’s in it, how to read a row, what we already turned into HTML year pages, and the gotchas we hit while building them. It is not another year/make/model dump. For browse-by-vehicle, use Mechanics’ Files. For the library of parts books, stay here under Catalogs.

What’s inside the 1991–2006 Chassis Master

This book bridges the “old iron still on the road every day” era: late squarebody leftovers into GMT400/GMT800 trucks, Twin I-beam into independent-front F-150s, D150 into 2nd/3rd-gen Ram, and Civic from 4th-gen through early 7th-gen. Typical coverage on each vehicle sheet:

  • Ball joints — load-carrying and follower, press-in and bolt-on, with Problem Solver notes when Moog upgraded the OE design
  • Control arms — complete CK / RK arms plus bushing-only SKUs for shops that still press joints
  • Bushings — control-arm, strut-rod, trailing-arm, and sway-bar bushings
  • Tie rods & steering — outer ES, inner EV, adjusting sleeves, idler / Pitman where the platform still uses a box
  • Hubs / wheel bearings — early 51xxxx hub assemblies plus older tapered-bearing applications
  • Sway-bar links — K-series links, left/right when they differ

Like the later Chassis Master, sheets stack year ranges newest-first and park “leftover” trims on the same page with a qualifier. That is why our HTML year pages share SKUs across several years and split only when Moog splits—mid-cycle knuckle changes, 4×4 vs 4×2 coils, aluminum vs cast, and van lines that share a chapter heading with the pickup.

How to read a Moog row (same grammar as 2007–2018)

Left to right, a typical application line is still:

  • Year range — newest-first (e.g. 2006–1999). If your year sits inside the range, that SKU applies unless a trim note says otherwise.
  • Position / application note — Left Lower, Right Upper, 4×4 only, “Will Not Fit Aluminum Steering Knuckles,” engine / trim notes
  • Part number — the Moog SKU you search (K / RK / CK / ES / EV / 51xxxx)
  • Qty & figure — how many per vehicle and which diagram callout (F###)

SKU prefixes we live with every day: K (Problem Solver chassis), RK (R-Series complete arms), CK (premium complete arms), ES (outer tie rods), EV (inners / rack ends), and numeric 51xxxx hubs. When Moog prints both CK and RK for the same corner, they’re usually the same geometry with different feature levels—pick a grade, don’t mix left CK with right RK unless you know why.

What we already built from THIS book

We’ve been turning 1991–2006 Chassis Master sheets into plain-English year pages so you don’t have to flip PDF pages on a phone in the bay. Real examples live today under Mechanics’ Files:

Gotchas from real catalog work

These are the foot-guns we keep hitting when we map this book to HTML:

  • C/K 1500 vs Silverado nameplate. Moog still prints C1500 / K1500 on many GMT400 rows even when the truck on the street wears a Silverado badge. Our HTML pages use the Silverado 1500 URL pattern, but the book row may say C1500/K1500. Same 1/2-ton pickup family—not Suburban, not Express, not 1500HD.
  • F-150 figure-code / “F150” spelling. The PDF often prints the model as F150 (no hyphen) next to figure callouts. We normalize display to F-150 on year pages so search and Amazon CTAs stay consistent. Always match the figure (F###) on the sheet to the diagram before you order a left/right arm.
  • Leftover vans in the truck chapters. Express, Econoline / Club Wagon, Ram Van / Ram Wagon, and Suburban lines sit near the pickup sheets. We strip those from the 1/2-ton year pages on purpose. Cab shape on the lot is not a free pass to the pickup Moog row.
  • GMT400 vs GMT800 is a hard split. 1991–1998 C/K 1500 and 1999–2006 Silverado 1500 share a catalog chapter family but not knuckles, many arms, or hubs. Don’t “upgrade” a ’95 ball joint kit onto a ’03 without reading the year stack.
  • Ram generation walls. Late D150 / W150, 1994–2001 2nd-gen, and 2002–2006 DR/DH are different front ends. 2500, vans, and Ramcharger are out of scope on our 1500 year pages.
