Vintage / reference framing
Treat WC5700 as a shop reference for pre-1981 brakes, not as a “buy every SKU tomorrow” Amazon flyer. Many rows still map to current Wagner (or superseding) friction and hydraulic numbers; some older iron is NLA and you’ll translate a shoe size / cylinder bore into what’s available today. The PDF exists so you can confirm what Wagner listed for that year/make/model before you guess from a universal kit.
Drum-era work dominates this book: brake shoes, drums, wheel cylinders, and master cylinders show up constantly. Front discs appear where the platform had them; rear discs are the exception, not the rule. If you came here looking for ThermoQuiet ceramic columns on a 2016 Ram, you’re in the wrong volume—open WC900 instead.
Where WC5700 sits vs WC800 and WC900
- WC5700 (1980 and older) — this book. Pre-1981 foreign & domestic; drum-heavy reference
- WC800 (1981–1994) — next era up; still plenty of rear drums, but front discs and later ABS/qualifier language are common
- WC900 (1995–2019) — late-model fuller master; source for our Ram 1500 brake year pages
- WC101 (1995–2019) — late-era companion (friction / rotor / hardware by axle)
A vehicle that straddles 1980/1981 may appear in both WC5700 and WC800 depending on how Wagner stacked the years. When both list the truck, match the qualifier (engine, drum size, bore) and prefer the book whose year stack actually contains your model year.
How to read a WC5700 application row
Layout follows the familiar Wagner family pattern (pads & shoes, hardware, rotors & drums, hoses, masters, wheel cylinders), aimed at older platforms:
- Year stack — two-digit / prior-year ranges; confirm your year is inside the printed stack
- Qualifier — engine, body style, drum diameter (e.g. 11″ × 2″), wheel-cylinder bore, power vs manual brakes, early disc options
- Friction / hydraulic SKUs — shoes and pads where listed; wheel cylinders and masters keyed to bore size
- Grade columns — modern ThermoQuiet / QuickStop / OEX / SevereDuty headers appear in the current print where Wagner still offers a grade; many vintage rows leave columns blank or show legacy MX/ZX/PD-style labels
Measure the drum and the wheel-cylinder bore on the truck when the sheet offers multiple sizes. A wrong bore is a comeback; a wrong shoe width is a parts-runner trip you didn’t need.
Honest status: no WC5700 year pages yet

Shop gotchas on pre-1981 sheets
- Drum size beats “same as my buddy’s truck.” Half-ton vs three-quarter, long-bed options, and police/taxi packages change shoe and cylinder callouts.
- NLA is normal. If Amazon doesn’t stock the exact legacy SKU, use the catalog dimensions (width, diameter, bore) to find the current Wagner or equivalent listing—don’t force a late-model QC pad onto a shoe application.
- Hardware kits still matter. Springs and hold-downs on drum brakes are wear items; WC5700 lists hardware families next to the shoes when Wagner packages them.
- Hoses and masters age out. Rubber hoses and forty-year-old masters are safety parts—if the book lists them, budget them with the shoes.
