If you already keep the Wagner WC900 (1995–2019) guide open for Ram brake work, Wagner Brake Master Catalog WC101 (1995–2019) is the companion volume for the same model years—same Federal-Mogul Wagner light-vehicle era, different page layout and a tighter product scope. We use WC900 as the primary application master for published Ram 1500 brake year pages; WC101 is the cross-check book when you want a by-axle friction / rotor / hardware view of the same 1995–2019 shelf.
This page is a guide to that companion book—what WC101 covers versus WC900 (verified from the PDFs, not guessed), how the layout differs, and where to go for vehicle browse. It is not another year/make/model dump. For browse-by-vehicle, use Mechanics’ Files. For the library of parts books, stay under Catalogs.

WC101 vs WC900 — what each book actually covers
Both books print Foreign & Domestic Brake Products 1995–2019 on the cover and share the same ThermoQuiet / QuickStop / OEX / SevereDuty marketing front matter. After skimming the PDFs side by side, the real split is scope and layout—not “one is applications and one is a brochure.”
- WC900 (~1,650 pages) — fuller application master. Pads & shoes, hardware, rotors & drums, plus brake hoses, master cylinders, wheel cylinders, and wheel-attaching hardware. Product families are grouped (all pads, then hardware, then rotors). This is the book we used for Ram 1500 brake year pages.
- WC101 (~780 pages) — companion friction / rotor / hardware volume for the same years. Layout is interleaved by axle position on each vehicle: Front Pad/Shoe → Front Hardware → Front Rotor/Drum → Rear Pad/Shoe → … Parking. Hose, master-cylinder, and wheel-cylinder coverage that fills WC900 is essentially absent here.
In shop English: reach for WC900 when you need the full brake job including hydraulics; reach for WC101 when you want a faster by-axle pad/rotor/hardware sheet for the same era. When a footnote or grade column disagrees between the two, confirm lug count, rotor diameter, and caliper piston count on the truck before you order—and trust the sheet that matches the parts family you’re buying.
How to read a WC101 application row
A typical WC101 block still uses Wagner’s grade columns, just stacked by position:
- Front Brake Pad/Shoe — ThermoQuiet · QuickStop · Wagner OEX · SevereDuty + Qty
- Front Brake Hardware — disc hardware kit / caliper bolt SKUs
- Front Rotor/Drum — BD-series rotors with lug / diameter qualifiers
- Then the same pattern for Rear and Parking
Year stacks are newest-first two-digit ranges (e.g. 18-16). Qualifiers call out engine, trim, 4×2 vs 4×4, rotor diameter, and “except…” notes. Footnote digits on a pad SKU (the little 1,2,3 suffixes in PDF text extracts) are catalog footnotes—strip them before Amazon search.
Grade columns (same language as WC900)
- ThermoQuiet (QC…) — one-piece ceramic-oriented pad with integrally molded insulator; quieter daily-driver grade
- QuickStop (ZD…) — application-specific “restore like-new” friction on the same vehicle row
- Wagner OEX (OEX…) — performance-oriented column when populated; blank means don’t invent a number
- SevereDuty — fleet / extreme-duty friction when the column is filled
Those grade rules match what we document on the WC900 guide—WC101 does not invent a fifth friction story.
Cross-link to WC900 Ram brake year pages
Our published HTML brake year pages were built from WC900 data, not from WC101. Use them when you want plain-English Ram 1500 sheets instead of zooming either PDF:
- Ram 1500 brake years 1995–2018 — pattern
/{year}-ram-1500-brake-parts/(sample: 2016 Ram 1500 brake parts) - Deep how-to + gotchas for those pages: Wagner WC900 guide
- Suspension companions for many of the same trucks: Mechanics’ Files and the Moog Chassis Master guides
If WC101 and a Ram year page disagree on a hose or master cylinder, remember: hose / master / wheel-cylinder rows live in WC900. WC101 will not settle a hydraulic argument.
When to open WC101 vs WC900 in the bay
- Pad + rotor + hardware only on a 1995–2019 vehicle → WC101’s by-axle layout is often faster to scan
- Full axle job with hoses or a master cylinder → WC900
- Ram 1500 HTML year page already exists → start there, then PDF only for footnotes
- 1981–1994 or 1980-and-older → wrong shelf; use WC800 or WC5700
